Axonometric showing the relationship of the new and old building. The additions add interest to the simple original shapes.

Shutters to the bedroom verandah create an interesting light/shadow pattern and also provide sun and rain protection to create an indoor/outdoor room. Shutters are very versatile and functional.

A beach house that touched the earth lightly. The main house pod is built on only 8 poles driven to below the low water mark. Western red cedar cladding was featured with a liming stain. The skillion roofs follow the line of the dunes and are still used in coastal architecture. The interior has expansive ocean views with split level living/bunk room and two extra bedrooms with balconies.

A picture taken from the Timaru Herald of the new Zanzibar restaurant and bar. In the photo are the then owners Mr  Zandbergen and Mrs Michelle Johnson( extreme left and right) with staff. The bar overlooked Caroline Bay, Timaru, with beautiful ocean views. The bar is a combination of stainless steel and timber with detailed designs to the glass racks and bar front. Large bifolding doors allow patrons to spill onto the paved and landscaped forecourt. Walls, ceilings and floors were patterned and arranged to suit the overall concept for the restaurant. The design incorporated an extensive commercial kitchen, bar fittings, and coolrooms, and other amenities.
