C O N C E P T

The concept was for a campsite by the lake, made solid by the building materials.

The building sits into the landscape with its low roof pitches.

Beautiful Northern sun-soaked views are provided across the lake and make for attractive treatments to the North facade and views from the kitchen, living and dining areas.

E N T R Y

Buttresses styled on the idea of a tent ropes securing the building to the ground and providing areas for planting.

The entry, as it is on the south side, has a glass roof to protect from the weather and provide a cheerful, bright welcome to the house.

Materials include rendered brick walls, colorbond roof and Western Red Cedar timber windows and doors.

 


N O R T H E R N  F A C A D E

Features large timber doors bifolding onto a covered dining terrace with views across the lake.

Angled pedestals continue the concept for the tent. Low walls increase the height of the view and garden beds soften the edge of the building as it meets the land.

V A U L T E D  C E I L I N G

Expansive vaulted ceiling lets Northern light into the Gallery space and creates visual impact.

Ceiling heights and planes vary throughout the residence, responding to spaces and their uses. The expanse of the vaulted ceiling juxtaposes raked and lower ceilings for visual serenity.

C O U R T Y A R D

A courtyard on the eastern side lets northern light into the entry and features a pond with water features and a place for plants and planting.

Clerestory windows light capitalise on natural ventilation and daylighting in the interior spaces. As the residence is on a narrow block surrounded by high fences, clerestory windows also  enable occupants longer views to the sky and trees.

C O U R T Y A R D  G R E E N E R Y  A R E A

The planting area is shaded and has a decking platform for ease of watering plants.

K I T C H E N ,  U N D E R  C O N S T R U C T I O N

The large kitchen features granite bench tops and a Jarrah timber serving bar beside the dining room. The kitchen also connects to a large laundry.  All cupboards and drawers are purpose-designed and drawers are on soft-close runners
